I’m Kristy Yawman, the artist behind Taurini Designs. I have Down Syndrome, and my journey as an artist is deeply personal. My art is a reflection of how I see the world—full of color, detail, and emotion. I’ve been creating since high school, and I use Sharpie markers on art paper to bring my ideas to life. Each piece is filled with my heart and soul, inspired by my dreams, my experiences, and my sister Stacy, who believes in me.
I have a passion for travel and exploring new places, which has brought me inspiration from all over the world, including a memorable trip to Paris, France. I also love collecting seashells, drinking coffee, and enjoying life as an intellectual. These experiences and interests fuel my creativity and are often reflected in my work.
In 2007, my sister Stacy and I started Taurini Designs to share my artwork with a wider audience. I want to expand my art so the whole world can see it, creating pieces that bring joy and resonate with people. Whether it’s a print hanging on a wall, a greeting card shared with a friend, or a custom piece, I’m passionate about creating art that holds special meaning.
I create my art in a peaceful and calming space in my home. I have a few rules: I never do art when I’m tired, hungry, or haven’t had my coffee. I also love listening to music while I work; it helps me focus and brings even more emotion into my pieces.
Being an artist with Down Syndrome has shaped who I am and how I create. It has taught me to see the world differently, focus on the details that others might overlook, and find beauty in unexpected places. I believe that everyone has something unique to offer, and my art is my way of sharing my perspective with the world. I’m grateful for the support I’ve received and excited to continue growing as an artist, creating work that brings happiness and inspiration to others.
You can find my art on various products, including greeting cards, journals, luggage tags, and clothing, all printed and organized by my art manager. Thank you for taking the time to learn about my journey, and I hope my art brings a smile to your face.
